Managing Partner
Emmanuel Mumia is a distinguished Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and the founding Managing Partner of M & E Advocates LLP. He is one of Kenya’s most capable and strategically minded legal practitioners, commanding deep expertise across public procurement and administrative law, commercial litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, constitutional and public law, banking and finance, employment and labour law, regulatory advisory, environmental law and media and intellectual property.
With over ten years of post-admission experience, Emmanuel has built a practice defined not by the volume of matters he handles but by the complexity, significance and quality of the outcomes he consistently delivers. He has appeared before the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board, the High Court, the Court of Appeal, the Employment and Labour Relations Court, the National Environment Tribunal and domestic and international arbitral tribunals, handling matters that have shaped procurement jurisprudence, protected multi-billion-shilling commercial interests, defended the constitutional rights of institutions and individuals, and contributed to the development of Kenya’s legal and regulatory infrastructure.
Emmanuel founded M & E Advocates LLP with a deliberate and uncompromising vision: to build a law firm that delivers the rigour, strategic depth and institutional discipline of a top-tier practice alongside the genuine partner accessibility, commercial judgment and client-first culture that sophisticated clients deserve but rarely receive. That vision is not a marketing statement. It is the operating principle of everything the firm does, from how it structures its first advice to how it shows up for clients in the most demanding moments of their legal and commercial lives.
Clients who have worked with Emmanuel describe him consistently in the same terms: calm under pressure, incisive in analysis, decisive in strategy and relentlessly committed to their interests. He does not tell clients what they want to hear. He tells them what they need to know, and then he builds the most credible and effective legal strategy available to achieve the outcome they need.

Professional Background
Emmanuel’s legal career began in 2013 when he joined a well-regarded Nairobi law firm as a pupil advocate. He was admitted to the Bar in 2015 following the successful completion of his Advocates Training Programme at the Kenya School of Law, and he rapidly distinguished himself as an exceptional litigation advocate through his technical precision, commercial awareness, thorough preparation and quality of client stewardship.
His trajectory was exceptional by any measure. Within three years of his admission to the Bar, he was elevated to Partnership in 2018, becoming one of the youngest partners in the firm’s history and taking on leadership of the Litigation, Dispute Resolution and Recoveries Department, one of the most demanding and high-profile departments in a busy and well-regarded mid-tier Kenyan practice.
During his decade in partnership, Emmanuel built a formidable and diverse litigation and dispute resolution practice. He handled a wide and sophisticated portfolio of matters spanning public procurement disputes, infrastructure and PPP-related arbitrations, banking and securities litigation, constitutional petitions, employment disputes, commercial litigation, media and intellectual property matters, and regulatory advisory work. He appeared regularly before the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board, the High Court, the Court of Appeal and arbitral tribunals, and developed a reputation throughout the Kenyan legal market for thorough preparation, sharp and persuasive legal arguments, and the ability to navigate complex multi-party disputes with strategic clarity and commercial intelligence.
Emmanuel took the deliberate and considered step that had long been the natural next stage of his professional journey and founded M & E Advocates LLP as its Managing Partner, assembling a talented and committed team of advocates and building a practice that reflects his professional philosophy in every dimension: specialist strength, commercial judgment, partner-led service, institutional discipline and an unwavering commitment to client outcomes.
